2024 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report: Camper Profile

Who is the North American camper? KOA’s Camper Profile, the sixth release of the 2024 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality report series, shines more light on the millions who call themselves campers and how the camping audience has changed over the last decade. Findings include:

📈 Camping households have increased by 68% since 2014, resulting in over 53.6 million active camping households in 2023.

👨‍👩‍👧 60% of campers began camping before age 18, fostering a lifelong love for the outdoors.

⛺ The average camper spends 6.7 nights camping annually and expends $156 a day in local communities.

🛜 New campers are more diverse and connected, with 48% considering Wi-Fi the most important campground amenity.
