2024 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report: Economic Impacts


Over the past decade, camping has evolved from a simple outdoor pastime to encompass a wide range of hospitality offerings catering to preferences from rugged wilderness adventures to luxurious glamping retreats. This growth has positively impacted the outdoor hospitality industry and the economies in which it operates.

💲In the past year, campers increased their average daily spending by $28 per camper per day on their trips. In all, campers spent about $49 billion in local communities.

🔄 90% of campers are adjusting their trips based on the economy. Most are spending less on food and entertainment, staying closer to home, or driving instead of flying to destinations.

🏕️ Eight in 10 campers shared that they planned to increase or keep their camping trip consistent, pointing to a healthy desire for outdoor travel.
